Jaundice

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mom’s reading this! :)

Koal had a pretty good night last night.  They are continually checking his leg and clots, as well as his blood levels and adjusting blood thinners as needed. This morning he’s a bit jaundice, so they put him under a light.

We remember that well from when Kade was little! Please pray that the light will work quickly and effectively so that is one less thing to deal with.  Continue to pray, also, for the issues with the clots in his leg to become resolved soon. Other than a pretty spotlight to lay under, he seems to be doing well, and we are praying that today can be a quiet, uneventful day for the little guy.

Adam put together a cute trio of pictures of the kids when they were each only a few days old. They all sure looked a lot alike when they were little!

Thank you all for your continued prayers and kind words of encouragement in person, with comments here, and on FB. We love you all so much and feel so supported by those around us as we continue on this journey.  Both Adam and I are feeling rested today (I keep reminding people when they say we look tired, that I did give birth 4 days ago. Plus, the reality is, I’m quite sure I’m getting MORE sleep now – 7-7 ½ hrs a night - than I would if Koal was at home and I was taking care of a newborn!). We both slept well last night, as did Kade and Adry, and hopefully we can stay “caught up” until surgery time comes. We continue to have so much peace about everything going on…God is taking care of us and blessing us abundantly each day. Thank you all for letting God use you as those blessings.

Lifting you all up in prayer. We're friends of Carol and Curt Nesbitt, and Carol told me about what you are all going through right now.

Our son, Dakota, was born with a rare heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus. Almost 21 years later and after 3 open heart surguries and two pacemakers, he is doing fantastic. He is living a very normal life (aside from take regular medications) and he is a young man of strong faith in Christ.

We know what you are going through, as we remember very clearly our emotions in the days following Dakota's birth. We lived in Omaha at the time and the doctors at the University of Nebraksa Medical Center sent us to Ann Arbor, Michigan for Dakota's first open heart surgery at one week of age. God strengthened our faith and gave us incredible peace and strength as we trusted Him completely.

We are praying for complete healing for Koal, wisdom for the doctors, strength and peace for you and your family, and that God will provide for you in every way as He guides you each step of the way.

I loved the pictures of the kids. They really do look so much alike. Glad to hear he is resting and you are getting some much needed rest as well. I know having Kade and Adry home will keep you busy and give some sweet laughter thru the house as you check on Koal thru the day. I loved the post from Chuck and Jennifer Case. Isn 't it wonderful how the Lord brings peace and comfort even from people we don't know but who have gone thru the same restless days. It helps to hear from those who can say "We know exactly how you are feeling." We'll continue to pray as you list the prayer needs and will look forward to the time when we can come see Koal when he is out of the nic unit. We're praying for the Lord's complete healing of his little heart.
