Day 1 Post-Op

Just a quick update to let you know Koal is doing very well.  He was stable all night and all his numbers have been good. Dr. del Nido and Dr. Powell both stopped by and said they were pleased with his progress and they think he’s doing well.  They began giving him morphine and a sedative and just took him off the muscle relaxer that keeps him paralyzed and we expect to see some movement in the next couple of hours. He’s still heavily sedated and will remain on the ventilator until Sunday, if not longer. We warned the nurses he might get crazy and try to pull out tubes, but they’re ready. J HOPEFULLY he’ll start to move and wake up, but be loopy enough from sedation to not care one bit about all his attachments.

Thanks you for your continued prayers for his recovery. Please pray that Koal could get rid of the fluids that have built up. It just takes time and is not an issue at all, but the sooner he does that, the sooner meds will work, he’ll begin to wake up and he’ll be on the road to the next steps of recovery! Pray also that he will start to move and wake up comfortably and peacefully.  We are excited to see him move around a bit and even open his eyes, even if he is sedated and “out of it.” Pray also for a restful night this evening as he adjusts to his new regimen of medications.

Thank you for the photos! Wow, he is "hooked up" for sure!

Love you all. Praying that by now he is moving a bit and you've seen his eyes open.
