Good appointment!
Koal hanging out at Kade's soccer game. |
Koal
LOVES to watch his big brother play soccer…and his big sis RUN on to the field
as if she’s playing, too!! (More on this near the end of the post…even a video
of Kade playing!)
Koal
had an appointment with Dr. Shah, his cardiologist, yesterday and it went very
well. His Oxygen saturation is at 99%
and he’s up to 17 pounds (no heavyweight, but growing like a champ!). His EKG
looked great, and they performed an echo as well, which also showed good
results. His VSD (the hole between the
bottom chambers of his heart) is getting smaller and smaller as the doctors
hoped and expected. All other functions of the heart look stable and he is
pleased with his progress after the surgery. One concern still remains: the narrowing of the tricuspid valve. For now, it looks fine, and the hope is that
it will continue to grow with Koal, and not become an issue. It is possible, however, that at some point the narrowing could become
too severe, or the valve not grow proportionately, and it would eventually lead
to heart failure. There’s no surgical repair for tricuspid valve issues, so
Koal would need a heart transplant if it ever gets to that point. We are SO VERY thankful that things look great now,
and pray that all continues to function and grow properly! The little man turns ONE next week…can’t
believe it!
Here’s
the video of Kade playing soccer. He's in the grey jersey and red shorts. It’s
been awesome to watch – SO stinkin' funny, and yet he’s learning TONS and having a
FABULOUS time!
