Still Holding Stable!

We had another good appointment with Dr. Shah, Koal's cardiologist this morning! Koalton was a trooper, like always, patiently sitting quietly through the testing, listening, picture taking and talking. He told Dr. Shah about some of his Christmas gifts and about playing with his brother and sisters and was an excellent patient overall. Dr. Shah was happy to see how he looked and how he's growing, but also had good reports about the testing as well.  Koal's numbers (pressures, blood flow, etc.) seem to be holding stable, having hardly changed since our last appointment four months ago! Yaaahhooooooo! The calcium build-up around his conduit (plastic replacement tube) is of course still present and will continue to increase, but is currently of no concern and looked totally as expected. Doc reiterated that his numbers will become problematic as he grows (probably when he's close to 40lbs he thought?) and we will of course have to return to Boston at that point for testing and eventually another open heart surgery to replace his conduit that doesn't grow with him. For now, though, things look nice and stable and we'll go back to see Dr. Shah in about four months again!

Hooked up for his EKG

Thank you for your continued prayers for our Koalton. He's doing so well and we're so thankful for a great appointment again. In about a month he'll be doing his first "Jump For Heart" day at his preschool! He's been a part of it each year since he was tiny as both Kade and Adry have done it when they were in preschool as well. He's excited to show off his scar and "shark fin" (what we call his chest bone protrusion) to his class mates and talk about how the funds raised through the "Jump for Heart" program really do help kids just like HIM! How lucky and blessed we are to have such an amazing little man! We continue to pray that God will keep him safe and give the doctors wisdom and clarity as he grows and needs more attention. For now we thank God often for stability and this sweet season of "calm" as we get to sit back and watch Koal thrive!
