Cardiology Appointment
I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30
Koal had an excellent check up with Dr. Shah, his cardiologist at Children’s Mercy, this morning! He was a real trooper as we waited (quite a while!)for all his tests and procedures. He even fell asleep while they performed his echocardiogram (the sonogram type test where they can see flow and function and take pictures of his little heart)! Not sure what that’ll do for his nap time this afternoon, but at least we avoided screaming and flailing around, and the need for sedation! Dr. Shah said that things continue to look very good: that the repair done in Boston looks wonderful and his function and numbers are right where they need to be. The valve inside his atrial conduit is leaking a bit, which they expected to happen, but it is not of concern, it is just one of the things they will continue to monitor as he grows. The doc seemed very pleased with the growth of his tricuspid valve as well, which is always a concern with Koalton anatomy, so we were very thankful to hear that. He also said that the small remaining VSD (hole between the bottom chambers of the heart) has closed as well! Unless we have concerns or see other issues, we don’t have to go back for NINE whole months…praise God! Thanks for all your prayers...we are grateful for such fantastic news.
